Working in Neuropsychology Settings: An Introduction for Aspiring Clinical Psychologists

COURSE OVERVIEW

In this course, we provide a clear introduction to core knowledge and skills required to work in neuropsychology services.

The session will cover:

  • An introduction to the role of a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist
  • An introduction to core neuropsychological principles underpinning the work of clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists working in neuropsychology services
  • An introduction to key professional issues and challenges inherent to working in neuropsychology services
  • An introduction to key neuropsychological assessment tools used in clinical practice.
  • Practical case discussions focusing on assessment, formulation and intervention around neuropsychological issues.

The training is led by Dr Will Curvis (Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Tutor on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme at Lancaster University). Will works with people with physical health and neurological problems in an acute hospital setting and has experience of working across primary and secondary care mental health services.

This introductory course is aimed at graduates aiming to pursue career paths in clinical psychology or neuropsychology, including those working in therapeutic roles such as Assistant Psychologists or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. It is ideal for those seeking to develop their knowledge and skills around neuropsychology practice.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course is delivered in 1 day (running from 09:30 until 16:30).
